we’ve visited our first two* 2018 photography exhibitions this weekend and the second one really excelled: ‘blick verschiebung’ (‘shifting perspectives’) in schloss biesdorf in berlin marzahn.
its central topics are the tectonic shifts that happened on all human levels in eastern germany shortly before but mainly after the fall of the wall. featured are the works of 22 photographers among them some very well known photographers like Arno Fischer, Thomas Zielony or the always wonderful Ulrich Wüst. my personal favourites have been the series by Seiichi Furuya, Ludwig Rauch and Ingeborg Ullrich, though. new names to me, nice!
the exhibition is still running until april 8th and it is absolutely recommended not only because of the really really good photography but also for the nice surroundings of schloss biesdorf which also sports a very nice cafeteria.
i could not resist
windows in doors
alexander janetzko – aus der serie ‘streusand’
a lot of flare
ulrich wüst – sbahnhof ostkreuz
ludwig rauch (et al.)
*just in case you wonder what the other exhibition was: the sony world photography awards exhibition in the Willy Brandt Haus in kreuzberg. also a very nice exhibition but clearly second place this weekend :-)

they say the best camera is the one that’s with you. in this case it was not that simple – the (presumably) best camera was buried in my suitcase, the second best camera was deep in my rucksack… so i tried the third best camera (my mobile phone) and yes, i am quite pleased with the result.
as the tradition of this blog has it here are some of my favourite pictures from 2017.
this time they come from a variety of places like zürich, paris, den haag, cologne, texel, munich, venice, kassel, duisburg and last and definitely not least hong kong. but most of them are of course from good old berlin. i hope you like what you see! (cont’d below)
a happy new year to all of you friendly followers, following friends and likable likers. it was a pleasure having you!
to a good 2018!
ps: i pondered adding a new twist to this retrospective and i thought i’d share some of my favourite songs that i’ve discovered during the last year with you. i reckoned a spotify playlist might reach at least some of the readers here. it should even work without a spotify account but then you have to endure some advertising between the songs.
this blog is going into hibernation until next year. see you on the other side!
Frohe Weihnachten! Merry Christmas! Happy holidays! Schöne Feiertage!

the year is coming to an end and this blog is very close to entering the frozen zone between the years.
