“the round thing has to go into the square thing” (german football saying)
berlin, ostkreuz, 2017
i know it’s rather a rectangular thing. but i somehow did not like how the phrase turned out metrically when i used ‘rectangular’. in the picture though, i tried both versions at once :)
fernsehturm, berlin mitte, 2017
fernsehturm, berlin, mitte, 2016
a classical view onto the fernsehturm through the weltzeituhr at alexanderplatz.
and then quite some more of berlin
in the lower left corner the tower of the ‘rotes rathaus‘ (red city hall), on the right a small (but very substantial) part of the fernsehturm at alexanderplatz. in the back left the heizkraftwerk lichterfelde with its three giant chimneys. smack in the middle the postbank tower in kreuzberg. on its right the gasometer in schöneberg and between the gasometer and the tv tower in the far back the ‘steglitzer kreisel‘.
what? oh yes – fisher island: that’s the part with the white high-risers in the middle.
that was fun, maybe we should do this again some time :)
the berliner fernsehturm measures 368 m in height. the rest is flatlands…
berlin fernsehturm seen from karl-marx-allee. i especially like the six steel ropes on the left…
(i had to crop that frame quite severely because the longest lens i had with me that day was the 45mm…)
even trickier: squaring the sphere.
again fernsehturm, berlin alexanderplatz, shot with the m.zuiko 45mm from the panorama platform at the 40th floor of the park inn hotel at about 150 metres above sea level. and that is about 70 metres below the center of the sphere. that’s about as close as it gets, i think ;)
the entry fee to the platform is 3 euros and i guess these are well spent when in berlin.
another one from alexanderplatz. i took this one just a few hours ago. i always find it fascinating to see the fernsehturm disappear in the mist like that.
berlin fernsehturm, wet plate.
which lollipop is not like the others?
shot through quite a lot of giant lollipops (pins actually) sticking in a giant map of berlin on the schlossplatz.
m.zuiko 45mm, handheld. so please be nice and try to overlook the blur :)
or as we put it here in berlin: der herbst ist da… shot today from the reichstag dome on one of the first rainy days of unfortunately a few more to come.
haha, funny… ok, not so… but … ok…
